Removal of Impacted Wisdom Teeth
When there is insufficient space for third molars to erupt, Dr. Chopra will remove the impacted wisdom teeth early before the root structure is fully developed.
Our Pediatric dentists keep an eye on their patients for evidence of wisdom teeth that may cause trouble in the future. Patients, 10 to 14 years of age may begin to get their third molars, while others do not appear until the early twenties.
Dental issues become increasingly problematic when impacted wisdom teeth are not removed by age thirty. The following dental problems may occur:
Infection: The most frequent clinical problem of impacted wisdom teeth is pericoronitis (a localized gum infection). The gum tissue around the wisdom tooth becomes irritated and eventually infected. The result is recurrent swelling, problems chewing, swallowing, and pain.
Cyst Formation: Cysts are fluid-filled “balloons” that form in the jaw bone due to impacted wisdom teeth. The cyst will slowly expand, destroying adjacent jaw bones and, sometimes, teeth. With the delayed removal of wisdom teeth, tumors are possible although rare. Wisdom teeth can be challenging to treat when they are not removed.
Possible crowding and damage to adjacent teeth:-Impacted wisdom teeth contribute significantly to crowding, most noticeable in the front teeth. The early removal of impacted wisdom teeth is done to prevent long-term pain, infection, and damage to your teeth, gums, and jaw bone.

Distraction Osteogenesis
Since 1990 surgical and technological advances in the field of distraction osteogenesis have enabled maxillofacial surgeons to treat certain deformities of the oral and facial region with safe and predictable methods.
Distraction osteogenesis can be used instead of bone grafts to add bone mass to jaws. Recent advanced technology has provided a distraction device used by a maxillofacial surgeon to slowly grow bone in selected areas where bone loss has occurred in the upper and lower jaws. The newly formed bone serves as an excellent foundation for dental implants.
